Music Memories: "Load" by Metallica (7th year post)

"Load" By Metallica

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the album "Load" by the band Metallica.  This album was controversial when it came out on June 4, 1996  .  Not only did Metallica infamously sport shorter hair on the back of the album cover, but the music was creativly different from the self titled "Metallica", released just five years before in 1991.  I consider it to be a mixed bag of music, much like the self titled "The Beatles" (White Album). The songs range from complicated pieces of rock and roll, gloomy ballads, and simple "country" songs.  Well thats enough of my rambling, here's the track list (strong language):

40 Years of Walt Disney World

Today is the 40th Anniversary of Walt Disney World in Florida.  I have never been but wished I could go during the 1970's and 1980's.  I really don't have any pictures, so I decided to use some figurines that best represent my idea of the Magic Kingdom.

Videogame Showcase: Super Mario World

Today marks the 20th anniversary for the American release of the Super Nintendo Console with Super Mario World.  The Super Nintendo had already been released in Japan as the Super Famicon in November of 1990.  Does anyone else remember the Super Mario World cartoon from September of 1991?

Today is anniversary of Batman's debut in Detective Comics #27.  I read about it on Bubba Shelby's Toyriffic blog.  This drawing is from November of 2007, when I decided to emulate the old drawing styles. 
There are a couple of mistakes and I will get around to coloring eventually.

40 years of The Haunted Mansion

Let's see if I can borrow a line and say " I'll be your host, your Post host (chuckle)" and let me say what an influence the Haunted Mansion has been. I wonder how many Halloween displays have been influenced after people went on it. But there was a time when I was not so fond of this attraction.
In my youth, my friends and I would talk about HM, one even went to ride it, but the impression we had is: The Haunted Mansion was the scariest ride EVER!! And if you rode it, you would have nightmares for weeks and weeks and have to sleep with the lights on, we even had a rumor of non-existent scene that included a funeral for an old woman lifting up to the great beyond and only her skeleton would return to earth. (It did'nt help after watching the Disneyland 30th anniversary special that had a segment on the Haunted Mansion showing scenes and having a young Drew Barrymore describe how scary it was either)But after riding it, it wasn't that bad, maybe a little enjoyable. There are plenty of sites that cover the history of the Haunted Mansion, and I guess it goes to show how many people enjoy the mansion. Now let's view my gallery of Haunted Mansion tributes.

Rollercoaster Tycoon Showcase: A Day to Remember

Today is the 54th anniversary of Disneyland, so in the spirit of the signifigance of today on the theme park industry I am going share some of my Magic Kingdom screenshots from my 5th Magic Kingdom sim on RollerCoaster Tycoon 2.
